5:30-7:00 in the Gym

Good morning Pike Panthers.

I want to remind everyone about our Spring Open House this evening from 5:30-7:00. Teachers will be set up in the competition gym and tonight's events will be a showcase of all of the great work that our students have been producing and learning in the classroom. We will have students at each content table talking with parents about what is going on in their class and what they are learning. Tonight's Open House is a come and go event so please stop by if possible. Northwest HS is partnering with us this evening and will have tables set up in the gym as well showcasing some of the different programs offered at the High School.

Don't forget that PTA is hosting a general PTA meeting at 6:30 in the library with a digital safety presentation event in the library following the PTA meeting. PTA is also providing dinner tonight at 7:00 for anyone attending the digital safety presentation.

Have a safe and happy Spring Break!

Spring Break March 11-15

Happy Friday Panthers,

It is hard to believe that it is already March. We had a busy week with many of our Panthers competing and presenting at different events. Choir performed in the UIL Choir competition yesterday and both our girls and boys Varsity Choirs came home with Sweepstakes top honors yesterday. Our Choir teams have been working extremely hard this year and it showed yesterday in their competitions. We could not be more proud of how they represented our school yesterday at UIL. Yesterday was also the district Expo event where students from all over the district presented on different projects that they have been working on the classroom. The Pike students stole the show yesterday and did an excellent job presenting and talking about their learning.

Our Spring Open House is this coming Thursday, March 7th from 5:30-7:00. Teachers will be set up in the competition gym with students showcasing work from classes this year. Northwest HS is also sending some students over to set up in the cafeteriato showcase and answer questions about the different programs at the high school. PTA will have a general at 6:30 in the library and will then hosta parent presentation on student technology use from 7:00-8:00 in the library.

6th Grade Parents:

This is a reminder that all 6th graders are required by the State of Texas to receive two immunizations prior to the first day of 7th grade. The Tdap booster and meningococcal vaccination are required. Please make plans to get these shots, if you haven’t already, and return the updated vaccination record to Lisa Black, RN (Pike Nurse).

Have a safe and exciting Spring Break and good luck to everyone filling out their NCAA tournament brackets. March Madness is my favorite time of year!

Sincerely,

Chris Jones

December 19, 2018

Panthers,

It has been a great first semester and I want to thank each of you for your continued support in Pike MS. Without the collective effort of parents and teachers our students would not have had the successes that they have had so far this year. We wrap up semester exams tomorrow with students taking their 4th and 8th period exams. Please remember that Thursday is a half day and students will be released at 12:50. All students need to have arrangements made to be picked up no later than 1:30 on Thursday. Also, Friday is a student holiday so no school on Friday.

As you know, the safety and well-being of our students is always our highest priority. Today we initiated a campus Shelter in Place in efforts to protect and maintain the privacy of one of our students. As a reminder, a Shelter is Place is business as usual in all of our classrooms. Teachers are to keep all students in their classrooms and keep students out of the hallways. Normal classroom instruction continues during this time. The Shelter in Place lasted approximately 3 minutes. While the Shelter in Place was initiated there was no danger to any of our students or staff at any time. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the campus at 817-215-0400.

Sincerely,

Chris Jones

Semester Exams Next Week

End of the 1st Semeter

Panthers,

It is hard to believe that the first semester of this school year comes to close at the end of next week. Our kids have accomplished so much already and we cant wait to see what they will accomplish this Spring. Please review your child's grades with them this weekend and have them work on any missing assignments that they still have to do. The window to turn in work is rapidly closing. Most of class time next week will be spent taking semester exams. Here is the schedule of what exams your child will take each day:

  • Monday - 2nd and 7th period exams
  • Tuesday - 3rd and 6th period exams
  • Wednesday - 1st and 5th period exams
  • Thursday - 4th and 8th period exams

Exams periods will be 90 minutes long and students will only be allowed to take their exams during the time scheduled for that exam. No exam will be given early.

Parents, please note that Thursday is a half day and school will be letting out at 12:50. Please make arrangement to have students picked up no later than 1:00 on Thursday. Also, Friday is a student holiday so no school on Friday of next week.

We have enjoyed having your child at Pike this semester and look forward to working with each of you in the Spring as we partner to give your child the best educational experience possible.

Sincerely,

Chris Jones

Pike Family Fall Fest 10/26/18

Happy Friday Panthers,

Our 5th annual Pike Family is this coming Friday, October 26th from 5:30-7:30. It is a great family event which includes costume competitions, trick or treating in the hallways, booths and fun games for the kids, and our springbook fair in the library. Our PTSA is sponsoring the event and will be providing free hot dogs for everyone that attends. All games are sponsored by our students and are free to everyone to play. The Pike Family Fall Fest isa community event and not a fund raiser. To make this event happen we are hosting a candy drive to bring in candy for our games and our booths. The candy drive is a competition between grade level 2nd period classes. The class in each grade level that brings in the most candy will win an ice cream party for their class. Please help support our Pike Family Fest and donate candy to this event.I hope that everyone can make it on the 26th.

We are officially halfway through the second grading period and student progress reports will be view-able on the Home Access Center (HAC) Monday afternoon. Please review your child's grades with them on Monday and set goals with them on what they need to do academically in each class.

School Picture retakes will be Wednesday, October 24th.
