Panther Family Weekly Tidbits
|

|
|
Greetings Panther Families!
Welcome to May! We are officially in the home stretch—just 14.5 school days to go. It’s hard to believe how quickly this year has flown by.
As we push toward the finish line, I want to sincerely thank you for your continued support. The partnership between home and school truly makes a difference, and we couldn’t do this work without you.
These last couple of weeks are important. While there’s a lot of excitement in the air, it’s also a time when we need students to stay focused and finish strong—both academically and behaviorally. We’ve seen some recent reminders that students need to continue holding themselves to our expectations of being safe, respectful, and responsible, and I appreciate the conversations we have had and the support you provide when we have to hold students accountable.
We are close—but we’re not there yet. Let’s work together to make sure we end the year the right way, the Panther Way!!
That's all for now. Until next time....y'all keep on keepin' on, and always KEEP BELIEVING!!
Mr. D

This is a reminder that all students are required to wear their ID every day for the duration of the school year. Any student who comes to school and reaches 10 or more occurrences without an ID will automatically have a new ID printed, and their SchoolCash account will be charged $4 for each occurrence moving forward.
Please also remember that all student fees must be paid in order to purchase tickets for future events. For our 8th graders, this includes the end-of-year 8th grade dance.

Election Day on Saturday in Local Races
|
Northwest ISD may not have elections on the ballot this May, but your local municipality could! Early voting has concluded in the current election cycle, though registered voters have a final opportunity to cast their ballots on Saturday, May 2. Our school district encourages a culture of voting regardless of the race – find the candidates and positions that matter to you! Find where to vote and what’s on your ballot at www.votetexas.gov.

I want to briefly touch on our upcoming 8th grade dance. I know there have been some questions and conversations about the dress code, and I’d like to provide a bit of clarity. While this is a special event to celebrate our 8th graders, it is still a school-sponsored function held on campus, so we do expect students to follow the established dress expectations.
Our goal is not to be overly restrictive, but to ensure the event remains appropriate for a middle school setting. We are not going to be measuring outfits at the door; we simply ask that families use good judgment when helping students choose what to wear.
We are excited for this to be a fun and memorable night for our students, and we appreciate your support in helping us keep the focus on a positive and appropriate celebration.

Upcoming Immunization Clinics
|
Nurse Black has been sending home immunization notices for the children that need vaccines prior to next school year. If you haven't gotten a notice from her, your child is most likely up to date. NISD has several vaccine clinics coming up:
May 1, 2026 – 4:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. – Byron Nelson High School, 2775 Bobcat Blvd. | Trophy Club
May 20, 2026 – 3:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m. – Northwest High School, 2301 Texan Drive | Justin 76247
Please see the district web site for details. These are an excellent and convenient opportunity to take care of this requirement. Please call or email nurse Black for questions or concerns.

Enrollment for 2026-2027 School Year Ongoing
|
Families can now enroll their students for the 2026-2027 school year at www.nisdtx.org/enroll!
Northwest ISD encourages families of returning students to re-enroll before the end of the current school year to minimize class adjustments at the start of the school year. For families of returning students, re-enrollment is a simple process with most information pre-filled based on previous submissions.

Thank you to all of our parents who have been driving their students to the back of the school this week. It has helped create a much safer and more efficient drop-off and pick-up process.
Even with an increase in cars using the back pick-up in the afternoons, we have consistently finished by 4:30, with only a few final arrivals after that time. I’ve monitored the cameras, and families who were at the back of the line at 4:15 were typically out within 12 minutes or less. This is great considering the volume of cars we have!!
Thank you again for your patience and cooperation. I know waiting in a line isn’t always the most convenient option, but I will always place student safety over convenience. I truly appreciate your support in helping us keep all of our students safe.

A quick reminder that doors open at 8:25AM. There’s no staff supervision before then, and we’re seeing more students being dropped off early—sometimes more than an hour before doors open. Please help us keep everyone safe by dropping off at or after 8:25AM.
To help keep traffic moving safely and smoothly, please follow these reminders:
- Pull All the Way Forward: When entering the pick-up/drop-off zone, continue to the front of the line before stopping. Stopping early—even if you see your student—causes unnecessary back-ups.
- Student Pick-Up: Students will walk to meet you once you have entered the designated zone.
- Stay in the Zone: Use only the official pick-up/drop-off area. This keeps students safe!
- No U-Turns: Please do not make U-turns in the drive lanes. This creates a serious risk of accidents.
- Drive with Patience: Rushing or cutting into lanes can lead to accidents and unsafe conditions.
- One-Way Traffic: Each direction is one lane.
