A Note From Mr. D

Greetings Panther Families!

As we move closer to the end of the school year, spring fever is definitely setting in. This is a great time to talk with your students and remind them of expectations for behavior while at school.

Throughout the year, we have focused on our core values of being safe, respectful, and responsible. These are not just school expectations—they are values that apply to how students engage in the world around them. When these are reinforced both at school and at home, it leads to greater success for all students.

One area where this is especially important is conflict resolution. Many of our students are still developing the skills needed to handle challenges appropriately, and recently we have seen situations where students have resorted to physical violence instead of working through conflict in a positive way.

We ask that you partner with us in reinforcing with your students that kindness, grace, and mercy—along with being safe, respectful, and responsible—are essential in creating a positive environment for everyone.

That's all for now. Until next time....y'all keep on keepin' on, and always KEEP BELIEVING!!

Mr. D

Upcoming Immunization Clinics

Nurse Black is currently sending home immunization notices for the children that need vaccines prior to next school year. If you haven't gotten a notice from her, your child is most likely up to date. NISD has several vaccine clinics coming up, the first one is this Saturday, April 11th. Please see the district web site for details. These are an excellent and convenient opportunity to take care of this requirement. Please call or email nurse Black for questions or concerns.

Enrollment for 2026-2027 School Year Ongoing

Families can now enroll their students for the 2026-2027 school year at www.nisdtx.org/enroll!

Northwest ISD encourages families of returning students to re-enroll before the end of the current school year to minimize class adjustments at the start of the school year. For families of returning students, re-enrollment is a simple process with most information pre-filled based on previous submissions.

Athletics Hall of Honor Submissions Open Through May 1

Community members are invited to submit nominations for the second class of the Northwest ISD Athletics Hall of Honor, a program created to recognize those who have made exceptional contributions to school programs in the district. Nominations will be accepted through May 1.

Since the district’s inception nearly 75 years ago, many high-achieving student-athletes and teams have represented Northwest ISD with distinction. The Hall of Honor was established in 2023 to recognize these individuals and teams as well as the support systems behind them. To learn more or submit a nomination, view this webpage.

High School Spring Plant Sales Take Place Next Week

FFA programs for Northwest ISD’s comprehensive high schools – Byron Nelson, Eaton and Northwest – will each host their annual spring plant sales in April, providing students, parents and community members with the opportunity to buy inexpensive plants and benefit local education.

All schools will host their plant sales for three days. The annual sale will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, April 16, and Friday, April 17 as well as 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 18. Sales will be conducted in each school’s greenhouse. Byron Nelson is located at 2775 Bobcat Blvd. in Trophy Club, Eaton is located at 1350 Eagle Blvd., Haslet and Northwest is located at 2301 Texan Drive in Justin.

For more information about the sales, read this news article. Prices per plant can be viewed on this spreadsheet.

Parent Drop-Off/Pick-Up

Thank you to all of our parents who have been driving their students to the back of the school this week. It has helped create a much safer and more efficient drop-off and pick-up process.

Even with an increase in cars using the back pick-up in the afternoons, we have consistently finished by 4:30, with only a few final arrivals after that time. I’ve monitored the cameras, and families who were at the back of the line at 4:15 were typically out within 12 minutes or less. This is great considering the volume of cars we have!!

Thank you again for your patience and cooperation. I know waiting in a line isn’t always the most convenient option, but I will always place student safety over convenience. I truly appreciate your support in helping us keep all of our students safe.

A quick reminder that doors open at 8:25AM. There’s no staff supervision before then, and we’re seeing more students being dropped off early—sometimes more than an hour before doors open. Please help us keep everyone safe by dropping off at or after 8:25AM.

To help keep traffic moving safely and smoothly, please follow these reminders:

  • Pull All the Way Forward: When entering the pick-up/drop-off zone, continue to the front of the line before stopping. Stopping early—even if you see your student—causes unnecessary back-ups.
  • Student Pick-Up: Students will walk to meet you once you have entered the designated zone.
  • Stay in the Zone: Use only the official pick-up/drop-off area. This keeps students safe!
  • No U-Turns: Please do not make U-turns in the drive lanes. This creates a serious risk of accidents.
  • Drive with Patience: Rushing or cutting into lanes can lead to accidents and unsafe conditions.
  • One-Way Traffic: Each direction is one lane.
