Pike Happenings January 24th- 28th

Dear Pike Parents and Caregivers,

 I could not be prouder of how our Panthers have dealt with the challenges and uncertainty we have faced the past couple of weeks.  Our campus has come together to support each other and demonstrate the true meaning of teamwork.  It is truly is a great day to be a Panther!  

Weather:

  • Please remember our doors will open at 8:20 daily.
  • Have your Panthers write their names in their jackets and hoodies.
  • Check our lost and found in the cafeteria we have a very large collection of items!

Yearbook Sales

  • Last day to purchase yearbooks is on Friday January 28th

Saturday School

  • We will be offering our 1st Saturday School on Saturday January 29th 8:00- 11:00 to help students who may need extra support or assistance get caught up on work.
    • Assistant Principals and Counselors will be reaching out to parents of students who qualify.

Grades/Assignments:

  • We are experiencing a higher percentage of students who are missing or not completing work.
  • Please talk with your Panther about the several opportunities they have to come in for tutorials:
    • T/Th afterschool from 4:15- 6:15
    • Before School T/Th 8:00- 8:45 (Will need to contact teacher if before 8:20)
    • During advisory on Monday/Wednesday/Thursday

COVID Updates:

  • Please utilize our NISD dashboard to monitor our campus positivity rate. https://www.nisdtx.org/covid-info
  • The dashboard is updated daily at 6pm which could affect our campus operations.
  • We will continue to:
    •  Report to 1st period until our positivity rate is below 2% for an extended period.
    • Self-Screen for illness every day and stay home if you have fever and or/symptoms of illness.
    • Wash hands thoroughly and regularly.
    • Practice social distancing where feasible.

Principles of Human Service class:

  • If your Panther is enrolled in Principles of Human Services class please note they will be starting a unit that involves topic such as domestic violence, addiction, foster care and more.
  • Please check your email for more information from Mrs. Ryan concerning the topics to be covered.

UIL Academics

  • We will be starting tryouts and practices for UIL Academics soon. 
  • Panther News will be showcasing the different events and teachers who are sponsoring so students will know who to contact.  

Upcoming Events:

  • January 31st all 4 High Schools will be hosting a Showcase from 6- 7:30pm
  • January 25th Book Brawl at Wilson MS 6pm
  • January 28th 9:30- 10:30 Coffee with the Principal
  • February 8th High school presentation at Pike 6pm

Incoming 5th grader information 

  • If you have an incoming 5th grader Pike will be sending information to your elementary campus concerning: 
  • Incoming 5th grade tours have been changed to a virtual format.
  • Pike will host 2 nights of Parent Meetings for incoming 5th graders.
  • February 8th and February 22nd times to be decided.
