STAAR reminders for Thursday April 10th
A couple reminders regarding upcoming STAAR Testing
Please be aware that on all STAAR assessment days, our campus will be a closed campus. No visitors will be allowed on campus for lunch, to volunteer, etc. in any grade level on STAAR assessment days. We will also not be accepting deliveries for students. Test security and an optimal assessment environment are high priorities for the state, our district, and our campus.
- On April 10th all students will take the English Language Arts STAAR.
- Students have until 4:15 to complete the assessment.
- Students will be consolidated starting at 1PM. ALL students will eat lunch in their testing room.
- They will have the opportunity to order a sack lunch from the cafeteria OR they may bring their own.
- Please understand that there will be NO access to microwaves on Thursday, April 10th.
Students need to arrive at school on time and with a charger Chromebook.
If at all possible, we are also requesting that there be no early checkouts on any STAAR assessment days. We want each and every student not to feel rushed so that they can perform at their best. We know you have the same goal, and we appreciate your support.
We aim for STAAR assessment days to be successful for all students. The staff at Pike is committed to providing a school environment that contributes to high levels of performance each day. Thank you for your support in helping us ensure the best possible assessment environment for our students.
Tips for students with test anxiety
- Stay positive and focus on doing your best not on achieving perfection
- Make sure to get plenty of sleep before the exam. Sleep helps with memory retention and focus.
- Visualization: Imagine yourself in a calm, positive test-taking environment.
- Stay calm during the test: If you feel overwhelmed, take a deep breath, pause for a moment, and refocus.
