Campus Pike Happenings Sept. 19th- 23rd

 
  From the looks of the cafeteria and the concession stand the dance was a success!  We hope everyone who attended had a good time and we look forward to our next one in February.  Thank you parents for allowing your Panthers to stay, they were all on their best behavior.

Vision/Screening:

  • All 7th graders and new to NISD will have their vision/hearing screened.
  • Students will be called down to the gym alphabetically during the day. 

Dr. Hicks Memorial: 

Safety Drills: 

  • During the school year we will conduct 5 different types of safety drills.  
    • Lockout: Threat outside.
    • Lockdown:  Threat inside in the building. 
    • Evacuate: Need to move to another location, fire.
    • Shelter: examples include tornado, chemical spill, 
    • Hold: Allow for privacy in the hallways due to a behavior or medical concern. 
  • Wednesday we will be conducting a campus Lockdown drill.  
    • Please see attached letter for more information. 

Dress Code: 

  • While the dress code does allow hats please note that hats must be worn properly in the building, bills facing forward.
    • We are asking students to keep their sunglasses put way.

 Open House:

  • Thursday Sept. 22nd 5:00- 6:30
  • This is a great time to walk your panthers schedule, meet their teachers and check out the book fair.
    • If you would like to discuss concerns  teachers will have a sign up sheet to request a parent conference at a later time. 

Sidekicks Dance Clinic:

  • NHS Sidekicks will be on campus Friday morning passing out information for their upcoming Dance Clinic in October.

 UIL Spectator Expectations:

  • For those of you who are attending or planning to attend UIL athletic events please review the attached Behavior Expectations of Spectators provided by the UIL.
  • Key highlights:
    • Be a positive role model at events through your own actions and by censuring those around you whose behavior is unbecoming.
    • Parents and spectators should be aware that the school can (and should) remove them from the premises and can prohibit them from attending future contests due to undesirable behaviors.  

Joint Pike PTA:

  • Looking for ways to get involved at Pike?  Look no further.... join our wonderful Pike PTA!
  • So far our Pike PTA has helped with Wednesday morning duty,  created positive message boards throughout the school, running concession stands for volleyball and our fall dance as well as  planning a Pike community Fall Fest event in October!
  • Members will be on hand during Open House this Thursday September 22nd if you have any questions.
