Pike Happenings Aug. 19th-23rd

We’ve successfully made it through the first three days of school, and we couldn’t have done it without your support. Thank you to all the parents who have sent encouraging emails, shared positive messages on social media, and taken the time to thank our staff in the car line. Your kindness and understanding during these hectic first days have meant the world to us. We truly appreciate your support!

Yearbooks: Facebook:
  • Please join our official Gene Pike Facebook page for all things concerning Pike.
    • Private accounts may not always be the best to go for information, resources or guidance.
    • You can ALWAYS email your child's AP, counselor or Principal.
Dropping off items:
  • We stop taking drop items at 11:00 am.
Early pick up:
  • We stop signing students out at 3:45.
    • Right now you may not even be able to get out of our parking lot at 3:45, so please plan in advance.
Car pick up:
  • We will have 2 lines for car pick up.
  • Once we get the loading area filled with cars, we will stop everyone and load at once.
    • Loading area is from the turn to the next stop sign, right in front of Pike.
  • Please do not stop in the loading area or on Texan drive and ask your child to meet you there.
  • If you want, you can print your child's names on white paper like elementary pick up and place in the passenger window.
    • Please see the attached template provide as your example.  If you need help printing you can respond to this email, and we will help you get it taken care of.
Cell Phone policy:
  • Teachers will begin keeping track of warnings for cell phone/ear bud usage.
  • The first 3 days have been good so far, please continue to talk with your Panther about the expectations.
Technology use at lunch:
  • This week will be the first week grade levels can earn technology use during lunch.
  • How do we earn this privilege?
    • Picking up the cafeteria after grade level lunch, throwing away trash, cleaning up spills, etc.  Pushing in chairs and leaving in a orderly manner.
    • Having ID's accessible during lunch and whenever asked.  Thank you, PTA, for the lanyard donations!
    • Being respectful to others.  Are we yelling and arguing with adults or other students?  Working when asked?
    • Taking care of the building by not marking on the walls or bathroom stalls.  Not creating messes and destroying restrooms with food in sinks or wet toilet   paper on the floor, ceiling or walls.  Making sure we correctly use the commodes and urinals verses the floor.  I know it’s hard to believe that kids would do this, but they do.
After school pick off:
  • On Friday I will be showing students who need to walk to the HS, natatorium, central office, Texan field, or another parking lot, how to get there safely.
  • We are still not allowing students to be picked up directly off of Texan drive.
Visitors at lunch:
  • We are still settling into our new routine.
  • Visitors at lunch will begin starting Sept. 2nd.
  • Sign up genius will be in next Pike Happenings.
Join PTA:
  • We are a very competitive campus, and we are already BEHIND in membership sign up!!!
  • Many people think if they sign up, they have to volunteer, you don't unless you want too!
  • Don't let your campus down, sign up today. (We even ask teachers to sign up as that is different competition.)
