Hearing, Vision, and AN Screenings

We will be having our district Vision, Hearing, Spinal, and Acanthosis Nigricans (AN) screenings will be held Wednesday, November 5.

• Students who wear glasses should bring them; contact-wearers should wear their contacts.
• Who’s included: all new-to-NISD students and all 7th graders; 8th-grade boys will also receive the spinal screening.

Our Pike PTA is hosting a Thanksgiving Food Drive to help families right here in our own community! From November 5–14, we’ll be collecting holiday favorites like canned veggies, boxed stuffing, instant mashed potatoes, and more. All items can be dropped off at the Learning Stairs. See the image below for all the food items we are collecting.

To make it fun, the grade with the most donations will win a donut party at lunch on November 21!

As basketball season gets underway, I want to share a quick reminder about Texas Senate Bill 2929. This law gives school officials the authority to immediately remove any spectator who engages in disruptive, disrespectful, or inappropriate behavior at a school-sponsored or UIL event—without the need for a verbal warning.

At Pike, we pride ourselves on creating an environment that reflects our core values of being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible—not just for our students, but for everyone who walks through our doors or sits in our stands. Our kids are watching how we model sportsmanship, integrity, and class, and they learn just as much from what they see as from what we say.
