Panther Families Monday Tidbits 12/1/2025
Howdy Pike Families!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. We’re back in the groove at Pike and ready to finish the fall semester strong. With three weeks left, I challenged students on our campus Zoom this morning to make choices they can be proud of. We also reviewed a few behavior expectations, and I wanted to share those with you so we can partner together.
Bathroom Behavior
We’ve seen an increase in misbehavior in the boys’ bathrooms, including vandalism, drawing on walls, clogging toilets/urinals, and even urinating on the floor. All grade levels have been affected. We’ve increased hallway supervision, but we would appreciate your help in reminding students to act appropriately and respectfully in shared spaces. We need to see improvement quickly.
Tardies
We are tightening up expectations around tardies. Students with multiple tardies met with their grade-level assistant principal today and were warned that future tardies will result in detention. We will conduct periodic tardy sweeps—where students without a pass will receive a detention. Sweeps will be announced ahead of time. Our goal isn’t to “catch and punish” kids, but to reinforce that being on time is a key part of being Responsible and Respectful.
IDs
Overall ID compliance is great! I've been doing spot checks for those students who have not had their IDs, and on any given day we have about 95% of students coming to school with their IDs. Today was 95.5%....which is outstanding!! Students who are continuing to come to school without their ID have been having personal conversations with me, and I will notify parents of those conversations as well, especially if continued non-compliance results in a detention. But overall I am very proud of how well our students are doing with this!
Panther Day
Panther Day is our fun, activity-filled half day before winter break. We want every student to participate. To reinforce our core values of being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible, students assigned ISS or OSS between now and Panther Day will not be able to take part in the activities and will work in a classroom instead.
I know behavior reminders aren’t always fun to discuss, but it’s important for us to stay aligned. The great news is that the vast majority of our students consistently demonstrate our core values, and we’re proud of how well they represent Pike each day.
Thank you for all of your support! It's going to be a fantastic few weeks here at Pike as we wrap up the fall semester. I've attached the holiday theme calendar so the kiddos can participate in some of the fun days we have planned. We love seeing kids get into the spirit!
Until next time...y'all keep on keepin' on, and always keep believing!!
Mr. D
