Brigid Kosek, Library Media Specialist

The mission of the Gene Pike Middle School library is to ensure that all students and staff are effective users of information and to promote reading as a lifelong pastime.

Mrs. Kosek

I have been a school librarian in NISD for 12 years.  I have a master's degree in library science and I am certified to teach self-contained grades PK-8, ESL, and GT.

Library Hours

The GPMS school library is open throughout the school day, but may be closed for meetings or testing.  All ELA classes are scheduled to visit the library bi-weekly and students may also visit anytime during the school day with a pass.  Students may check out our digital ebooks and audiobooks 24/7.

Library Checkout Policies

  • Students may have up to 4 print books, 2 ebooks, and 1 audio book checked out for a three week loan period with 1 renewal.

  • There are no fees for late books, but books damaged beyond reasonable repair or lost items are charged to the student's account.

  • Books not returned within 90 days are marked lost and the cost of the book is charged to the student's account.

  • Students are responsible for selecting books commensurate with their personal beliefs. 6th grade students must have a parent permission letter on file to check out YA books.
